Tours of Robie House |
The seriously deteriorated Robie House is being restored to its original splendor by the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust, according to the guidelines developed by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The $10-million-plus project endeavors to preserve this icon of modern architecture so future generations can experience its remarkable design and incredible spaces. As Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House enters the final phase of an historic decade-long restoration, the icon of modern architecture will undergo a significant acceleration to the restoration construction to prepare for the home's 100th anniversary in 2010. To accommodate the magnitude of the interior restoration construction and maintain a safe guest environment, tour offerings at the Robie House will be limited November 1, 2008 through October 31, 2009. Public tours will be conducted Saturdays from 11 am to 3 pm and advance ticket purchases are recommended. Purchase tickets or call 1-800-514-ETIX (3849).
